It was great to see everyone at conferences on Thursday and Friday. It was nice to hear how much your children are enjoying French. It gives me more energy to keep the program exciting and fresh.
This past week, I asked each grade to tell me what they knew about chameleons. Of course, everyone seemed to know that chameleons can change their skin colour to match their environment. We had fun watching Super Chameleon and shouting out the colour changes (in French, of course.) Then the students had fun singing Léon le caméléon. Both of these videos can be found on my webpage under Links for Students.
What do we have in a pencil box? The grade 1 students have been practicing words related to the objects found in a pencil box. To help us remember the the new vocabulary words, we use a particular hand gesture when saying each new word. Ask your child to say the following words in French along with the gesture - un crayon (pencil), un taille-crayon (pencil sharpener), une gomme (eraser), un stylo (pen), des ciseaux (scissors), une règle (ruler). Here is a link that allows you to listen to the pronunciation of the new vocabulary words. (Hint - click on each picture once and wait... it may take a few seconds to respond). Grade 2 and 3 students have reviewed the above vocabulary and are adding colour to their responses. For example.... Dans ma trousse, il y a un crayon bleu et rouge.
All students continue to practice counting in French and saying the numbers out of sequence.
